Overview:
The Director of Medical Staff Services is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational aspects of medical staff management. The Director interacts with the medical staff and hospital personnel in a professional and confidential manner. This role promotes cooperative relationships between the medical staff, allied health staff, the University of Florida, administration and hospital personnel while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, best practices, accreditation, regulatory, and licensure standards. The Director has oversight and direction for the day-to-day process of credentialing applications to include new applications, reappointments, and privilege modifications.The Director is responsible for management of Medical Staff Services Department functions while maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards, NCQA standards and the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws. This role must have extensive knowledge of the Joint Commission and NCQA standards as related to a Medical Staff Services Department. Works collaboratively with hospital departments to ensure a smooth transition for onboarding physicians and advanced practice professionals.
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or certification by National Association of Medical Staff Services.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree and certification by National Association of Medical Staff Services.
Necessary Skills:
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate with medical staff and administrative personnel.
2. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
3. Knowledge of accreditation standards and Florida statutes relating to medical staff.
4. Demonstrated ability to use word processor and implement filing system.
5. Ability to maintain database system to include all staff members regarding demographics, licensure, insurance and meeting attendance.
Required Experience: Over five (5) years in management of medical staff affairs.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years management of medical staff affairs in an academic medical center.
Supervision: Supervisory responsibility of 5-10 employees.
