Intern Healthcare Nonprofit Professional Services

Job Description

Beyond 90 provides services, including mental health, to arriving refugees and immigrants, most of whom have escaped terrorism, gang violence, and significant threats to their livelihood and family. Mental health services include counseling and behavioral case management. Our goal is to build capacity to serve more individuals in need.

In partnership with other nonprofits and service providers in our community, Beyond90 works to strengthen and empower refugee and immigrant families in the following areas:

  • Well-being - In order to thrive, refugees must be able to ensure their basic needs are met - food, housing, ongoing employment. Beyond90's support specialists assist with benefit applications, child care, job applications, and more.
  • Health - Beyond90 helps refugees navigate our often-complex healthcare system. We assist in advocating for themselves so they can access programs and insurance for ongoing preventive medical care.

The Clinical Internship is geared towards students in their second year of completing their Masters of Social Work or Masters in Mental Health Counseling. The opportunity offered in Beyond90’s Project For Healing mental health program will provide a multi-faceted opportunity to experience the full spectrum of needs that refugees face when building a new life in our community. The following is an overview of responsibilities (although not exhaustive) that a 2nd year intern would have during an internship with Beyond90:

Core Responsibilities

  • Gain working knowledge of all duties assigned to clinicians (Intakes, Assessments, various therapy techniques and modalities, etc.)
  • Perform the role of a clinician (with supervision) as directed by Project For Healing clinical staff
  • Assist in the completion of USCIS Medical Certification of Disability Exemption Form N648
  • Collaborate with case management to address any client issues
  • Attend weekly case consultation, staff and clinical meetings
